Our bodies are coded to relax in nature. Birdsong, crickets, waves—they’ve always told us the same thing: you’re safe now, you can rest. Growing up in rural Arkansas, I learned to pay attention to when the forest sang and when it went silent. Now, I find that same peace in a hammock on the Indian River. Science is catching up to what our souls already know: when we turn back to nature, we heal.
