A Gentle Invitation to the Body’s Emotional Ocean

The Sacral Chakra, known in Sanskrit as Svadhisthana, is the energy center of fluidity, sensuality, and creative life force. Located in the lower abdomen—just below the navel and above the pubic bone—this sacred zone is deeply linked to our ability to feel joy, form intimate connections, and honor the body’s rhythms and desires.

At Soul Journey, our approach to healing is integrative and respectful of many traditions, including Christian mysticism, yoga, somatic awareness, and sacred bodywork. For those experiencing tension, discomfort, or emotional stagnation in the pelvic region, a massage session focused on the Sacral Chakra can offer tangible relief while also gently introducing the deeper soulwork possible in this sacred center.

We have an article dedicated to the Sacral Chakra that you can find here.

Why the Sacral Chakra?

Whether it’s chronic tightness in the hips, menstrual or digestive discomfort, sexual disconnection, or unprocessed grief stored in the belly, the Sacral Chakra is often holding more than we realize. When we release tension in this zone through massage, breath, and intention, clients often describe feelings of emotional release, increased vitality, and a rekindling of inner joy.

Sacred Anatomy of the Sacral Zone

To fully understand why massage here can be so powerful, let’s look at what this part of the body actually includes—not just spiritually, but anatomically and energetically:

Organs

  • Bladder – Stores and eliminates urine; connects to feelings of control and release.

  • Uterus / Prostate – Central to reproductive health and deeply symbolic of creative energy.

  • Ovaries / Testes – Hormone production, libido, and vitality.

  • Lower Colon and Intestines – Digestive processing, elimination, and integration.

  • Kidneys (adjacent) – Associated with filtering emotional and physical toxins.

Muscle Groups

  • Pelvic Floor – The hammock of muscles supporting the organs of the lower abdomen; crucial in breath, posture, and emotional regulation.

  • Hip Flexors (Psoas, Iliacus) – Often tight from sitting and stress; these muscles have direct links to emotional holding patterns.

  • Gluteal Muscles – Support movement, balance, and store deep muscular tension.

  • Abdominals (Lower Rectus, Transversus) – Help regulate intra-abdominal pressure and support the spine and organs.

Energy Meridians

  • Ren (Conception Vessel) – Runs up the front midline of the body and governs reproductive energy.

  • Kidney Meridian – Starts at the sole of the foot and travels up the inner leg through the lower abdomen, connecting to fear and resilience.

  • Liver Meridian – Associated with emotional processing, hormonal cycles, and energetic flow through the pelvis.

Thai Marma Points (Energy Gates)

  • Nabhi Marma (navel center) – The hub of physical and energetic life; influences digestion, elimination, and vitality.

  • Basti Marma (bladder area) – Relates to the release of built-up energy or emotion and is a key point for grounding and clarity.

  • Katikataruna Marma (hip points) – Located where the femur meets the pelvis; often tender and responsive to therapeutic touch.

These energy centers and anatomical features overlap in ways that are hard to ignore. When one system is out of balance, it often shows up in the others—whether it’s hormonal mood swings, digestive issues, or an inability to access creativity or sensual pleasure.

What to Expect in a Sacral Chakra Massage

In a Soul Journey session focused on the Sacral Chakra, you’ll be guided through:

  • Gentle abdominal massage, helping you breathe deeply and reconnect to your center.

  • Hip and lower back work, targeting tension and pain with compassionate touch.

  • Energy balancing techniques, including intentional breathing and guided visualization.

  • Optional hot stones or sound healing, based on your comfort level and intention.

  • Privacy, consent, and care every step of the way—this area is powerful, and we honor your boundaries.

We also incorporate grounding oils like sandalwood, ylang-ylang, and orange to help

bring a sense of balance and flow.

Emotional and Spiritual Benefits

Massage isn’t just physical. Especially when it’s approached with intention, it becomes a sacred act of care—a way to invite God’s healing presence into the body’s hidden places. Clients often report:

  • A sense of emotional release or lightness

  • Renewed sensual awareness and ease in intimacy

  • Relief from chronic pelvic or low back discomfort

  • Insights about relationships or patterns that are ready to shift

  • A deeper connection to their own worth, beauty, and divine design

Supporting Your Journey

And if this is all brand new? That’s perfectly okay. All you need is a body, an open heart, and the willingness to receive.
